July 24, 2011 - Our July match was dedicated to two very special causes. We celebrated the National Day of the Cowboy and also held our annual charity match. This year it had been unanimously decided to donate the proceeds or our charity match to the Wounded Warrior Project. Some advance fundraisers were conducted at the state match and, combined with today's donations, we collected $794 for the project. Wow! Great job and thank you so much for your generosity. In honor of the National Day of the Cowboy we were reminded of "The Code of the West": Live each day with courage.
Take pride in your work.
Always finish what you start.
Do what has to be done.
Be tough, but fair.
When you make a promise, keep it.
Ride for the brand.
Talk less and say more.
Remember that some things aren't for sale.
Know where to draw the line. Our scenario stories for the match were written by The Allenwood Kid, a veteran of two tours in Iraq. By using scenes from some favorite war movies, they reflect how similar cowboys and soldiers can be. Five shooters had clean matches. Congratulations to Coldbrook Kid, Doc Allan Wood, Dodge Bill, Sgt Hochbauer and Stagecoach Scout. * * * * *
It's a bit of a long read for the website, but here it is - PURGATORY IN PETTICOATS - a dime novel and the theme of the 2011 SASS Pennsylvania State Match. Enjoy!
